Akinyi is no longer comfortable in the village,
She's tired of the long walks to the brown, filthy river,
She's tired of wandering in the Shamba looking for vegetables,
Oh, the bitter herbs she has to eat everyday,
Nyar Seme wants some meat and Pizza,
She's tired of the mooing cows and barking dogs,
She needs somewhere to rest her head
And her heart longs for the City
Akinyi longs for the Skyscrapers, She longs to see traffic light telling her to walk or not, She longs for night dances and flowing booze, Surely, life is better in the big City? Surely, the townspeople make merry all night long? She longs to twist her slender waist and showcase her hips, She longs to walk the busy streets and bump into people, So she's no longer comfortable in the village
But who will tell Akinyi, That all that glitters is not gold? Who will tell Nyar Seme that the Pizzas and meat cost a fortune? And that the faceless people are rushing to make a living? Who will tell her that motorists are blind to traffic lights; And ending with broken limbs is not very difficult? Who will tell Nyar Kodongo that the City people crave for the fresh vegetables? Someone should stop Akinyi from entering that bus
Akinyi is no longer comfortable in the village, But as she will soon get to know, She won't be comfortable in the City either.
She will meet that seemingly innocent boy in the street
Who will snatch her purse and phone
She will live in a ten by ten house
But still pay the rent through the nose
She will have to fight to get into the matatu
And hope the reckless driver doesn't kill them all
Akinyi may no longer be comfortable in the village,
But she'll find no comfort in the city
